Dubai, a Mall a minute.

Since I arrived Wedneday night it's been a non stop mall crawl.
Thursday to Emirates where they have the 1/4 mile ski lift.
I bought Cuban cigars there and exchanged money.
Then Siobhan and I went to lunch at the Mercato, Italian themed as in Vegas's Venezia.
Then we went through the Madinat Jumeirah which has a bazaar called a Souq and a boat ride around the property of a deluxe resort hotel, a la San Antonio Riverwalk.
So that was three.
Then yesterday Karl, her fiance, [She's on a flight to Shanghai and returns tomorrow] took me to an Islamic themed mall called Ibn Battutawhere I bought a pair of slacks at Debenham's for tea at the seven star Burj Al Arab where Siobhan is taking me tommorow.
In the afternoon we went to the Marina , heavy duty development on the water with yachts and skycraper hotels, a Johnny Rockets and a Starbucks, whose name here is legion.
Last night Karl and I went to the Habtoor Grand Resort and Spa where he took me to his favorite steakhouse, the Grand where we were beautifully treated and given an excellent Irish coffee by the manger Paul in conclusion.

The whole thing is like an out of body experience. You recognize the components of consumer society but realize you are in the desert looking at the Persian Gulf. Vegas and Hollywood conjued up on a sea of petrodollars.
The mind boggles as it blogs.
